Help Graysen fight Biliary Atresia #graysenstrong
Hi, my name is Nicole and I am creating this GoFundMe for a young family who gave birth to a baby on April 29, 2021 at 7:46pm weighing 5lbs 1oz 17 3/4inches long .
Graysen was abruptly born by emergency C-section as the unborn child was showing signs of distress at a regular ultrasound screening. He wasn't due until June 1, 2021. Once born he was taken into the NICU on his second day of life due to hypoglycemia. Once down there and doing some test; he was diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency, Hypothyroidism, PanHypopituitarism, Thrombocytosis, Asplenia and has hemolytic anemia. Majority of graysen life has been spent in the hospital. During one of his stays, the doctors performed a liver biopsy on him due to the high levels of jaundice, they found out that he has another very rare condition called biliary atresia. There is different types of atresia and in Graysen cases he has a mix of 3 of them. He underwent a 8 1/2 hour surgery called the Kasai to put a temporary bandage on his liver. There is a 66% chance Graysen will need a liver transplant sometime in the future. Due to his liver condition, Graysen requires special formula that runs about 45$a can.
For Graysen only being 3 months old he has endured over 300 needle pricks, 1 spinal tap, 3 blood transfusion, 1 biopsy, 1 body organ removal, the kasai procedure, over 15 x-rays/ultrasounds, over 30 urine cultures over 50 blood cultures. This ride hasn’t been easy for him at all between fevers, hypothermia and edema , he’s been a trooper and a little warrior
I am married and a mother of three, one of which has special needs. I know what it's like to worry constantly about the health and safety of a child. I couldn't imagine what these first time parents are going through. I was drawn to find a way to help Graysen’s parents, Emily and Jeremy. Any donations will help them with the unexpected, tremendous medical costs as the stress, heartache and uncertainty of Graysen's current and future health is already more than enough. Please consider helping them.
