I opened GRAVITY BEAR Bouldering Gym in downtown Tulsa, OK about a year ago, inspired by the vibrant climbing communities I’ve experienced around the world as a veteran of the armed forces. After moving to Tulsa, I saw the need for a community-driven, climbing-centered third space—a place where everyone feels welcomed, appreciated, and part of something bigger. We’ve worked hard to build a space that brings people together and supports the local climbing scene.
Starting and operating GRAVITY BEAR has been a tremendous undertaking, and while our membership base has grown, we haven’t yet reached breakeven. We’re running out of runway to keep operations going, and most of the funds we need to raise will help cover the operational shortfall. This support will give us more time to reach sustainability, and also allow us to make facility upgrades and add new holds, as well as invest in marketing efforts to spread the word.
I’d hate to see GRAVITY BEAR cease operations because we ran out of time with the funds we initially raised for the project. Building a new concept takes time, and I believe in this gym, the community, and the positive impact it has already had on Tulsa. With your support, we can continue to grow, welcome new members, and make Tulsa’s climbing community stronger than ever. Thank you for believing in us and helping us keep this dream alive.
