Help Us Find a New Home for Our Grandmother

My family is reaching out with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits as we try to find a new home for our 80-year-old grandmother, who is living with dementia. For the past two and a half years, she has been cared for at the Legacy at Grand Vie assisted senior living facility. Unfortunately, we were recently informed that the facility will be permanently closing in just two months. This unexpected news has left dozens of families—including ours—scrambling to find new accommodations and care for their loved ones.

Before moving to assisted living, my grandmother had to sell the home she lived in since 1984 in order to afford the cost of care. The monthly expense at her current facility is $4,700. Just one year costs over $57,000—so after 2.5 years, the proceeds from selling her home have been completely exhausted.

Our grandmother also requires specialized memory care, as her dementia has progressed to the point where she becomes easily confused and disoriented. Without proper supervision, she could unintentionally put herself—or others—at risk. A structured, secure environment with trained staff is essential for her well-being, safety, and peace of mind.

Now, with limited funds and only a short time to act, we’re faced with the urgent challenge of finding her a new, safe, and supportive place to live. Our goal with this GoFundMe is to raise enough to get her settled into a new memory care facility for at least a year, giving us time to create a long-term care plan and explore any available financial assistance options.

My family has always taken pride in doing things on our own, and asking for financial help is not something we do lightly. But we are at a point where we cannot do this alone.
