Goshen Organics is a Craft Micro Farm located in the historical "Black Dirt Region" of southern Goshen NY. Blessed to farm in this fertile region, our stewardship embodies the ethical values of local Craft Micro Farming. Prudent environmental planning, careful management of natural resources, sustainable farming and social justice business and labor principles help us to keenly preserve the ecosystems within our farming footprint. We firmly believe that all these elements combined form the basis of a divine style of agronomy; from which we are blessed to steward the land and harvest a bounty rich in flavor and organic nutrition. "Cultivating Goodness" is our Mission.
This mid-season, we have been blessed with an expansion to our farming footprint. In kind fashion, we pledge to help address the nutritious food insecurity issues many communities throughout the region are confronted with daily. We understand that food is a basic human need. Moreover, we know that Nutritious Food is a Vital human need, yet every day, thousands of families struggle to put healthy food on the table at an affordable scale. Across the nation, 44 million people, including 13 million children, face food insecurity. Households report regularly skipping healthy meal options or reducing wholesome intake because they could not afford to buy organic food staples rich in nutrition.
Our solution to this concerning statistic, albeit small, is to participate by pledging a portion of the land to offering farm fresh produce to communities in the region for free. Yes, we are pledging to farm Ten Acres of our expansion footprint to launch our "Cultivating Goodness Initiative".
To get a sense of the scale of this work imagine ten football fields producing locally grown food to be seasonally savored freely by communities throughout our region. We are excited to do this work and collaborate with the many organizations already leading the way to help everyone secure nutritious food in every community possible.
Goshen Organics is humbly asking all who are committed to eating healthy and sharing healthy food with their family and friends and larger community members and civic institutions to pledge stewardship with us. We believe that our initiative will help offset and reduce the trajectory of malnutrition in our communities. By offering free, healthy food inputs into our regional and local food supply chain we hope to offset the high retail cost of farm fresh whole food publicly. Nonetheless, producing farm fresh, healthy clean food for charity does not come without a price for us.
We have most of the essential equipment to cultivate the ten acres of farmland to provide organic free produce to local food banks and community-based organizations helping all people in our region that have limited resources to afford organic quality foods. Thus far, Goshen Organics has received 10 additional greenhouses measuring 20'x100'and all the ancillary tools for indoor planting. The greenhouses will help us control the grow footprint all year round. In addition, we have nine acres left to cultivate outdoor seasonal field crops.
The support dollars we need to raise today will go towards the implementation and extension of water and electric utilities to provide energy to the charity field. Without power and water, we cannot produce food sustainably. Pledging care to offset operational cost of setting up the field energy footprint, with an independent water well to extend irrigation throughout the distance of the Charity Field and the implementation of grid and off grid electric to power up the indoor production space and tools, is vital. Our current utility setup cannot support the demand we need to sustainably cultivate the Charity Field.
Our collective community of local farmers have pledged to dedicate their time and labor to compliment your charitable care donations to "Cultivate Goodness" for us all. Please collaborate with us by joining our C.S.A. steward membership community to receive program updates and membership care packages. Please feel free to email us with any questions and arrangements you may want to discuss concerning your pledge. Thank you for your Stewardship
Respectfully,
