HELP GIVE BACK TO THE BRAVE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS FROM OCEAN CITY POST 6650

The Ferguson - Foglio VFW Post 6650 has been a cornerstone of the Ocean City community since 1946, when the Post was organized by a group of Second World War veterans returning home. The post expanded in 1958 as membership was on the rise, and now in year 2020, is the proud Post of over 200 members.

The Post’s home, located at 1501 Bay Avenue in Ocean City, was built in 1949. The exterior of the building was in disrepair, and needed a new roof immediately. The entire roofing project cost over $60,000, which the Post is unable to afford alone as all fundraising efforts have been halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A group of local community members have come together to support the needs of the Ferguson - Foglio VFW Post 6650 by forming this Go Fund Me fundraiser. Your contributions will go directly to the project payments of the new roof.

Why Donate?

The Ferguson - Foglio VFW Post 6650, currently led by Post Commander Michael Morrissey, continually gives back its members and their families, and the Ocean City Community.

The Post is involved in many local organizations and events, including OCNJ Care, Operation First Responder, the Michael Strange Foundation, the New Jersey Run for the Fallen, and the Buddy Baldwin Memorial Scholarship just to name a few. The Post also sponsors and supports the Boy Scouts, Ocean City Little League, the Sunshine Foundation, OC Historical Society, Ocean City Theatre Company, as well as being an active member of the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The men and women of VFW Post 6650 were honored as the 2017 recipient of the Citizens of the Year Award by the Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce, along with co-recipient American Legion Morvay-Miley Post 524.

Most recently, Post 6650 stepped up to assist OCNJ Care when community members needed help at the start of the COVID 19 pandemic. The Post donated more than 2,000 meals to Ocean City residents severely impacted by the crisis, and also provided hundreds of meals for first responders and frontline medical personnel.

This post has become a home away from home for many of our brave combat foreign war veterans, and now more than ever, they need OUR help!

The doors of Post 6650 have been closed since March 2020, and the VFW has had to cancel all fundraising and social gatherings, including their bi-monthly Sunday breakfasts, weekly member dinners, and their annual fall golf tournament fundraiser.

Without the capabilities to have these beloved member and community events, there has been no influx of income or donations, leaving Post 6650 in need of financial help to restore their Post building and roof.

We are graciously asking for your help to support our local veterans of foreign war, who have always supported the Ocean City community. Your contributions are greatly appreciated!

*All donations will be withdrawn directly by Michael Morrissey, the Post Commander, and be used to pay for the building repairs and associated bills.*
