Urgent! Young Family Losing Home!

Donation protected

SHORT SYNOPSIS

Who

A young couple – Ginni (21) and Jose (25) have a three-month old daughter, Elena Graciela. They also care for Jose’s mother who has had two heart attacks within a few months of each other, Jose’s 11 year old sister, and Ginni’s 5 year old sister.  The young siblings cannot always be cared for by their struggling parents.

In most cases, young couples can rely on and go to parents in emergency situations such as this, but not in this case.  It is quite the opposite. They are the backbone of their entire family.

Why

I work for a property management company, where I am the Manager for three apartment complexes.  The emotional stress of forcing people who cannot pay rent onto the streets has caused me to give my resignation, but I want to help this family as much as I can before I leave.  To have compassion and love for others does not seem to coincide with this position and I implore each of you to find the compassion and love within you to help this young, family-oriented couple to not be evicted from the apartment they have worked so hard to get, maintain and make into a home for themselves and their family.

When

This is a very time-sensitive project. The writ has already been filed and the constable will be on their doorstep throwing them out early to mid- next week (possibly as early as Sep 17). This is an URGENT REQUEST!

The Family Who Will Be Helped By Your Donations

Ginni (21) and Jose (25) have been residents at this apartment complex for almost two years now. Three months ago, they became a family of three when baby Elena Graciela was born.

Both Ginni and Jose had difficult childhoods which no doubt shaped them into the resilient adults they've become. When they moved in to the apartment in January of 2017 they were full of excitement to start their new lives. They got engaged in January after being high school sweethearts, married in April, and they were beginning their new life together. No more than 6 months after they moved into their apartment hardship struck once again in their lives. Jose's mother had two heart attacks within a few months’ time and both Ginni and Jose had to miss time at work to take care of his mother and his 11 year old sister. Not long after this Ginni found out she was pregnant with baby Elena.

Within the first few weeks of Ginni's pregnancy with Elena she was told she could no longer work if she hoped to keep the baby. She had a condition called placental abruption, during which the placenta starts to detach from the womb. This can be a very serious condition for the baby as it can deprive the fetus of oxygen and nutrients needed for its' development. Jose also had to miss work during her pregnancy to care for her and for two weeks following Elena's birth to care for both Ginni and Elena.

They currently continue to care for Jose's 11-year-old sister, as well as Ginni's 5 year old sister frequently. They provide for them when their parents are unable to do so. This couple is in their early twenties, shouldering the responsibility of raising an infant, and caring for two young girls. They have held their heads high and displayed a quiet fortitude and maturity far beyond their years throughout every challenge put before them.

They have not come asking for help, but they are gracious enough to know when to accept it. Their gratitude was palpable and clear simply from hearing my offer of help. You can be assured that your donation will be received with heartfelt gratitude and remembered for a lifetime.

What Your Donation Will Go Towards

We are working with a time constraint to save this family. They will most likely be facing the official eviction middle of next week. Your donations will all go directly to Ginni and Jose’s balance. If we reach our goal this will prevent the eviction and allow them to stay in their home with baby Elena.

Your donation will contribute to the rent that they owe, the court and late fees that they have incurred, and past due utility bills. The amount I have set as the goal for the campaign is purely what is currently owed. If we can exceed the campaign goal I hope to apply the additional money owed as a credit to their account. This would provide them with an extra cushion as they get back on their feet.

If we do not reach the complete goal your contributions will still be of great benefit to this young family as they seek shelter for themselves and the new baby.

No donation is too small, anything you can contribute we will be enormously grateful for. Even if you can only afford to give $5, you have proven to this couple that one person out there carries compassion and love in their hearts.

You will also have my gratitude, more than I can adequately express with words. Please help me save these deserving people before I am officially no longer working for this company. My heart can’t handle knowing these kids and their baby don’t have a place to go. I will do everything in my power to keep them in their home, but I need your help.

If you would like to give a donation outside of this platform, please contact me directly and that can be arranged.

Let’s all band together and show that Love can heal and save us all. Be Love.

Why I Created This Campaign

This is the story of one of many families' personal struggles. The story of bad things happening to good people.

I have worked for a property management company in Fort Worth for a little over four years now. I started as a leasing agent, after a year and a half became manager of one of our offices overseeing two apartment complexes, later acquiring a third. Looking back, I remember what I now can see as an almost prophetic statement from a contractor the company uses. I now consider this person to be a good friend. He said to me one day, "Hey, please don't let this industry turn you into a B*#$%". I remember being rather taken aback and feeling a look of surprise fall over my face. "I've seen so many women at the apartments I do jobs for become hardened and negative, you're just too nice for that and I don't want to see that happen to you", he continued. From where I sit today I know exactly why he said what he did. His statement has periodically echoed in my mind and contributed to my awareness of how detrimental this job could be to my mental and even physical health were I to continue in this position.

At the beginning of August, I put in my letter of resignation. I stated within the letter that I would stay through the end of August. Shortly after, I agreed to stay on through September to help them out in the transition. I will be finished here in 2 more weeks. One of the reasons at the forefront of my decision to resign was the moral and emotionally painful task of kicking people out of their homes. I cannot handle having any hand, job duty or not, in causing others pain and hardship.

In brief, the process of eviction goes as follows; give a notice to the resident, file paperwork with the court for eviction, a court date is set for a few weeks later, at the court date the case is judged. If the case is judged against the defendant, 5 business days later we go back to file a Writ. Once a Writ is filed a constable comes out with another notice for the resident, after which we must physically move their things out of the apartment and onto the curb within 24 to 48 hours typically. Each filing adds additional fees and late fees continue to incur until the cap is reached. This digs a deeper and deeper financial hole for those involved and already struggling, making the task of catching up nearly impossible.

In my four years at this job I have never once been present for the physical eviction and setting out of people's things to the curb. They have fallen on a day I was off, or a day I had taken vacation every single time. This couple would normally have been evicted today or possibly even yesterday. However, due to the recent weather and the constables’ case load, he is very behind schedule. It will be towards the end of next week before the constable comes out.

I don’t believe anything to be a coincidence in life. There is a reason I have not been present to witness anyone being moved out of their homes in four years’ time. There is a reason I somehow subconsciously made mistakes on court paperwork TWICE, which incidentally gave them additional time. There is also a reason I am still at this job through the month of September when originally, I would have been gone two weeks ago. There is something I’m still here to accomplish- and this is it.

This couple needs and deserves our help to get a fresh start and escape the soon to be eviction. I was torn on what I should do yesterday when I saw that they had a Uhaul and were moving some things into it. The final notice they received states they have 24 hours to vacate before the eviction begins. I had a feeling that they didn’t have a place to go. At the end of the day my coworker, Angie, and I went by to talk to them. I asked them if they had anywhere to go, to which Jose responded, “no, not yet, but we’ve been trying to get our things out because it said we only have 24 hours”. I first let him know that they had a little more time due to the constable’s office being behind schedule and asked them if they would be open to me creating this GoFundMe campaign for them. Ginni’s eyes immediately filled with tears and of course Angie and I both at that point were also struggling through our own tears. We could not offer any promises, but there were smiles of hope and renewed light in their eyes when we left. I’m determined that this can be done through the help of compassionate hearts that read this plea.

Perhaps one day I can start a community of my own with the knowledge and experience I've gained here; a community that will be considerably different than most. A community that promotes compassion and cooperation, unity rather than separation, and collective well-being rather than individual promotion. It may sound fantastical- but such places already exist, and our world may very well depend on the creation and cultivation of this type of environment. There is a better way.

When I spoke about their story earlier I left the best part for last. This is not only the story about bad things happening to good people. This is the story within which we rewrite the narrative we are trapped within. This is the story of bad turning to good simply by virtue of a change in perspective. What was once viewed as "bad" becomes good when the light of experience is upon it. Every experience is simply an opportunity, a lesson, an invitation to remember all that we are- All one and All love. This is the story of love manifesting miracles that affect us all. When this family is freed from the anxiety of being on the streets with an infant, our collective effort for the sake of another will turn all the bad into good. Love will exude from within each one of us at a higher frequency. Love will show itself to be all that We Are.

"I don't want to live in the kind of world where we don't look out for each other. Not just the people that are close to us, buy anybody who needs a helping hand. I can't change the way anybody else thinks, or what they choose to do, but I can do my bit." - Charles De Lint
