We, the family of Gillian (Gill) and Eddie Reilly, with their blessing, have set up this fundraiser to support them and their three children, Catherine (16), Gary (13) and Cian (9), during an incredibly difficult time.

Gill's battle with cancer began in March 2020, when she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer when the children were aged 9, 7 and 3. She underwent chemotherapy, surgery and radiation, and was given an excellent initial outcome.

Sadly, in 2022, Gill received the devastating news that the cancer had spread to her shoulder, hip and spine. Further rounds of radiation and chemotherapy followed, alongside years of hospital appointments, infections, severe pain and life-threatening sepsis.

Throughout it all, Gill and Eddie have done everything possible to maintain a “new” normal and happy family life for their children.

Earlier this year, their world was turned upside down again when doctors discovered a brain tumour. Gill underwent major brain surgery in the Beaumont Hospital where the tumour was successfully removed. Devastatingly, 2 days before discharge (and a month away from her family), she was told that four further lesions had been found on her brain. Gill underwent intensive brain radiation and now lives with severe fatigue, pain and mobility difficulties. She is unable to drive and is on anti-seizure medication. Gills’ cancer is sadly incurable.

The impact on the whole family has been enormous. Since that day, Gill has endured more than any person should ever have to face. Eddie gave up work without hesitation to care for the children and to help Gill cope with the physical and emotional toll of her illness. He has been incredible since Gills first diagnosis. Gill has missed very special family celebrations including Cian’s First holy communion and Catherine’s 16th birthday, but continues to fight every day with courage, determination and deep faith.

This is why we are asking for your help. If you can make a donation, no matter how small, you will be helping to ease their burden with living expenses and provide some financial security for them. We completely understand if you are not in a position to donate. Sharing their story on social media platforms could make a huge difference. Every donation, every share, every kind message and every prayer will mean more than we can put into words.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read Gills story, and for helping us to support our darling girl and her family.

We will keep you updated on how they are all doing.
Go raibh míle maith agaibh. ❤️
