I am Ghassan Al-Zaanin from Gaza, a youth activist who works in civil society organizations.

I am a master’s student about to finish my thesis. I have striven since the beginning of my life to build myself in a way that befits my great ambition, until I was able, after years of work, to build my own house so that my dream of creating a family that I can immerse myself in could come true. With safety and love, I applied for an IREX scholarship in the United States of America to develop professional skills until I reached the final stages.

I woke up one day to find everything I had built demolishing my home, my job, my car, my master’s thesis, and even the IREX grant.

I began to move from one place to another, carrying the responsibility of my parents, and trying to provide them with safety.

I have never found time to cry over what I have missed. I run every day to try to provide food, drink, and treatment for my father, who is suffering from a stroke and is suffering from complications. His condition has worsened, so he cannot move completely and needs to receive urgent treatment in a hospital due to the lack of necessary medications for his condition.

Ghassan says: “I am not ready to lose another member of my family because of the war.”

Ghassan lost his older sister, her husband, and her children. He pulled their bodies out from under the rubble, and the nightmare of that day still haunts him every night. He also became responsible for his injured nephew, the only survivor from under the rubble.

More than once, Ghassan miraculously survived bombing in the four areas from which he was displaced. The last time was when he and his mother were going to search for treatment and his father’s needs. The house next to the place where they were staying was bombed.

Ghassan says: “Every day we wake up afraid and waiting for death that does not come.”

All of this put a lot of pressure on Ghassan and his mother, even his sister Raneen, she is completing her studies to obtain a doctorate degree in Turkey, and she was also waiting to finish her studies and return to her home and her family, but today she also lost everything.

Ghassan needs support so that he and his family can leave the Gaza Strip and reach a safe area so that he can help his father to receive treatment in the hospital so that his father can get his medications and health care, and to try to catch his last breath to stay safe and alive so that he can start over, perhaps he can catch up on some life. .

Help Ghassan and his family to get to safety outside the Gaza Strip. Help them to meet their daughter Raneen, she lives every second of her day in fear and anxiety about what her people are experiencing in Gaza.
