Kids Belong With Family!!!
Donation protected
My niece, Amberley, has hired a lawyer to fight for her rights & the rights and well-being of her daughters, Bella and JoJo.
Amberley was not fit to stand trial at the time she was coerced to sign over her rights, and deserves for her voice to be heard now that she is mentally competent. She and the girls did not have a supportive social worker through the duration of her child protection case in Hennepin County and they all had a hard time accessing the help they needed; her for her mental health and the girls with their relative caregiver for other supports. Amber was not capable of understanding what was happening in court when she signed away her rights.
Now that she is able, Amberley is fighting for her girls and believes they belong with the relative caregivers they grew up around, and to be raised in a home where the girls' personal, cultural and familial needs will be met. She wants for the bonds that the girls formed with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and their little brother to be nourished and encouraged. The current adoptive mom has cut the girls off from all their family members and they have not been able to see them since the summer of 2018. Studies show that kids do so much better when they are raised by parents, and if they are not able, the next best thing is placement with family members so they can maintain valuable support systems, traditions, and relationships.
I am helping Amberley raise money to pay the lawyer and court fees associated with the case, which originates from Hennepin County. They intervened due to issues with Amberley's ex-partner being abusive to her, and her mental health problems and subsequent drug use.
The lawyer is charging a flat fee of $10,000 total for the case, and thanks to our generous supporters, we only have $2,000 left to raise!
As soon as we have made the final $2000 payment, he will pull the trigger on filing the legal documents, which he has drafted and ready. He had spent the last few months working on pulling together everything he needed.
Your support means so much to our family!
