Help me get out of Iowa!

Hi, everybody. I'm so excited to say that I got a full-time teaching job and we're moving to Illinois! Like for so many people, the last few years have been tough. If you don't know me, my name is Jenny and I'm a music teacher and singer. I'm a single mom with two amazing teenagers. I went back to school and graduated with my doctorate in 2021. The market has been rough and I have managed to piece together visiting positions, free-lance work, and gig work (like Instacart and other delivery jobs) ever since and kept us above water. This will be our fifth home in five years, and I have every reason to believe that it is a long term situation and my kids will actually be able to go to the same school until they graduate high school.

When I have moved in the past, my father and I have done the move ourselves. This isn't an option this time. I do have two friends who are going to help me do the physical labor, but we will still need to rent a truck. I don't own a single piece of furniture that I have picked out or purchased; it is all hand-me downs. I'm super grateful for all of them too, but one of the beds has broken beyond repair and we don't have a couch. If you have moved any distance, then you know that moving is expensive! I'm working every day, but it isn't going to be enough and I'm out of options. I am raising this money to cover the move, getting into a new place, and then being able to start my new job and get the kids settled into another new school until I get my first paycheck.
