Yesterday, fellow AWDC member Mark suffered the sort of nightmare none of us ever wants to experience.

During the event, Mark and Mia’s race car caught fire. Thankfully, both of them managed to get out safely, which is by far the most important thing.

Even with the car burning, they had the presence of mind to move it away to an area where the fire was less likely to spread, helping prevent an already serious situation from becoming much worse.

Unfortunately, despite everyone’s efforts, the car was completely destroyed. As the photos show, there is virtually nothing left to salvage.

Anyone involved in off-road motorsport knows that a race car like this represents far more than its financial value. It’s hundreds of hours in the workshop, years of development, late nights, weekends, parts, money and memories — all gone in a matter of minutes.

So we’d like to do what the AWDC community does best and rally around one of our own.

We’re raising money to help Mark towards another race car and everything needed to get him and Mia back out competing again.

We know we probably can’t replace everything they’ve lost, but if everyone within the club, the wider off-road community, friends, competitors and supporters throws a few quid into the pot, hopefully together we can make a serious difference.

Motorsport might be competitive when the helmets go on, but when something like this happens, we’re one big family.
