On 6/9/23, my sister Lana (volunteer firefighter) and her boyfriend Andrew (the Cheif of the Waynesville Volunteer Fire Department) were in the process of driving the new-to-Brantley County, Georgia, Ladder Truck that they had just purchased from a station in New York. The exact cause of the crash is to be determined but seems to have been due to a tire blowing out. Some people have suggested that another large truck/vehicle ran them off, but either way, a freak accident resulted in the truck rolling over and both of them being ejected. This took place in Prince Georga/Carson, Virginia. Lana was transported via Life Flight to the hospital due to the injuries received.

Immediately upon hearing this, my mom (Lea) and brother (Corey) left south Georgia for Virginia with very little packed (nerves and rushing will do that lol).

Since making it up there, they've learned that while thankfully Lana and Andrew are both alive, Lana will likely be up there at least a week due to her concussion, multiple injuries to her back (one of which will require surgery today, 6/10), and an injury to her spleen. While all of this is happening, Lana's three young children will be cared for by my father, my husband and me (making a merry total of six young kids lol).

At this time, we are uncertain of how/if medical bills will be taken care of so the main purpose of this GoFundMe for now is to first and foremost assist with the travel expenses for my mom and brother as the gas, food, lodging, clothes, toiletries, etc will be adding up very quickly. Secondly, any extra may be used to provide food and perhaps a fun outing to the movies or trampoline park for her kids.

This will be updated should anything major change or if we learn medical expenses may be an issue.
