As most of you may know, on Saturday Nov 25, Jenny and Rigby were brutally mauled by 3 pit bulls out terrorizing their neighborhood. Jenny and Rigby were in the front yard when these beasts descended upon them out of nowhere. Jenny screamed for help and fought them off with her bare hands while trying to save her baby. Rigby was a 1 year old mixed Husky-Carolina rescue pup, he didn't have a clue how to fight, and these monsters brutally murdered him. He was ripped to shreds in his Own front yard. He had a sucking chest wound, multiple bite wounds, severe muscle trauma, and broken teeth. He had to be euthanized because his injuries were so severe he would never survive even though he fought his hardest to stay with his family.
During the attack, Jenny sustained several injuries when the pit bulls turned on her for trying to save Rigby. She is covered in dog bite wounds and severe bruises. They latched on to her while she tried to lift him to safety. She received several stitches and it's possible she will need to see a specialist for injuries sustained to her hands. Her neighbor heard and ran to help, saving Jenny from obtaining more severe or life threatening injuries. She had to go to the ER following the incident and incurred medical bills there and may need future procedures.
Rigby was her little buddy and Mariah's emotional support dog. They are both emotionally traumatized from this and do not even feel safe leaving their house. They are mourning their best friend and child while being scared to even go outside.
I'm Kelli. I've known Jenny and Mariah for 7 years but I feel like Jenny has been my best friend all my life. She is my sister and Mariah has been a friend and daughter to me. Just since I've known them, I've seen them go through more than anyone should have to. They have several animals they have rescued and are instrumental to helping in the animal world. Now they have no dog, do not feel safe at their own home, and don't know how they're going to keep going.
I'm starting this go fund me for a couple reasons. The owner of the beasts knew they were dangerous and even after they mauled Jenny, murdered Rigby, and attacked another woman 10 minutes later, he refused to cooperate. He does not care that these animals killed a beloved friend and attacked 2 women. One dog wasn't even vaccinated. He knowingly allowed trained killers to run the neighborhood without thought to any consequences. So reason 1 is to help with any lawyer fees associated with the case. Reason 2 is for any medical bills they have incurred or will incur in the future. Reason 3 is the vet bills they incurred from the emergency vet that worked on Rigby after the attack. They did everything they could but his injuries were too severe and he had lost too much blood
Next, these women deserve to feel safe at their house. They did nothing wrong, just took their dog out in their own yard. I'm hoping that we, as a community and friends, can help get them more security. After lawyer fees, medical bills, and vet biIls, I, personally, would like to see them be able to put up security cameras and a fence. From experience, I know I cannot live without a dog and they shouldn't have to because they're afraid they can't keep their baby safe. It's not right that they should not feel safe enough to have a dog or go outside.
If you have anything to spare, I know it's christmas and everyone is tapped out but this is for a good cause. My husband will donate his time to help put up the fence in the spring. Anyone else who wants to help then would also be appreciated. Let's help this family get through this together.
Rigby celebrated his 1st birthday over the summer with a pool party and his pug cousins. He was their best friend and he will be missed greatly. Rigby is now with Ninja ❤️
