Hi, most of you probably know me but for those who don’t I am Alexa Taylor. In 2018 I graduated from Georgia State University with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and I have been enjoying working as a registered nurse, traveling, and spending time with family for the past four years.
But in 2021, following an extremely crazy and challenging time for the world, I decided to take an unfortunate situation, and turn it into a positive one by furthering my education to earn a dual Master's in Public Health - Global Health and a Master of Science in Nursing - Family Nurse Practitioner at Emory University in Atlanta GA. I am set to graduate from both programs in December 2023!
I thought it was time to expand my education and training to match what I believe to be the center of functioning in our world - that is placing community and thus the health of the people in those communities at the center of focus; beginning with the underserved communities in our world who need it most.
As I am pursuing a dual degree, I will be finishing up my requirements for my MPH this spring, and in order to do so, I must complete a minimum of 200 hours of applied practice experience.
To do this I was granted a position with the Uganda Village Project, a nonprofit 501C3, to be a 2022 Healthy Villages intern. I am humbled, grateful, and extremely excited to accept such an amazing opportunity for personal and professional development.
While in Uganda, I will be a part of a team of six other public health interns from all over the world implementing various public health-focused interventions.
Interventions include the design, implementation, and evaluation of education and program-based interventions in the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sectors as well as HIV/AIDS, malaria, and reproductive health.
In order to benefit from this opportunity, not only to fulfill the remainder of my degree requirements but, to also benefit from the personal and professional growth in my future practice as a Public Health Family Nurse Practitioner, I must raise $6,000 USD to support me in the following ways:
• Program deposit: $500 USD
• Program Fee: $2,500 USD (supports my housing, meals, and transportation in Uganda)
• VISA, Travel/Health Insurance/Travel Vaccinations: $500 USD
• Round trip flight: minimum aprx. $2,000 USD
• Incidentals: $500 USD
This program will run from June 15, 2022 - August 14, 2022, and during this time I will still have to maintain all of my personal financial responsibilities including my monthly rent and bills, so any and all donations to help offset these costs are GREATLY appreciated.

Alexa
