Hi, I'm Shelly Williams and I'm starting this campaign on behalf of our dear friend George Friday, who is staring down the bad side of this system right now. A system riddled with injustices, especially if you're Black and disabled elder trying to keep a roof over your head on a fixed income with dependents. I've known George for over a decade through Move to Amend (an organization she cofounded), and have been blessed to spend a lot of time with her over the years. I mean it when I say so much of my evolution into who I am today and what business I stand on has been shaped by George's wisdom and insight. I know I'm not the only one, anyone who has worked with George knows she will get you think a lot about yourself, your role in the movement and how you move through challenges and conflict. She is also an expert in these systems that are currently trying to crush her, by keeping safe housing out of her reach. Decades of service and leadership in the movements for racial, gender and economic justice should not take you down a path to homelessness, but it does and it is. Please give what you can to help George afford the cost of staying housed.

In George's own words:

"I want to live In a house that is accessible, safe, comfortable and affordable with plenty of yard space. These days it takes an income of $60,000 or more and a credit rating of nearly 700 or more to get such housing. These are not pre-requisites I possess.

After working for systemic change in the country since 1987 one would think I would be able to secure housing, Alas our system which values money over people or their accomplishments doesn't, so I appeal to those who do care about the values I have worked to live out and uphold for help."
