My name is Patricia Hartmann. I am raising funds for my parents due to medical emergencies for my special needs brother, George.

For 3 weeks, my brother George, who is special needs, was sick and had to miss a lot of school. On Thursday, September 25, my parents had to take George to the ER at 3:00 AM because he couldn't breathe. George was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. My parents had to take turns staying at the hospital with George 24 hours a day. Due to his special needs, he couldn't be left alone and he was scared. George was released from the hospital on Saturday, September 27, feeling much better.

On Sunday, my mom took George to Walmart with her to pick up a couple of things. George wanted to stay in the car. When my mom came out of the store, George was very upset and said his leg hurt really bad and he had gotten sick. My mom had no idea what was wrong and George wouldn't tell her anything. When they got home, George was unable to get out of the car. My mom realized his leg was swollen and wanted to take his sock off. When she was removing the sock, she realized his foot was not in the right place. My parents took George back to the ER. They did x-rays and saw that George's leg and ankle were broken and his foot was dislocated. George needed to have surgery the next day, but in the morning, George had a grand mal seizure and needed to be cleared before he could have the surgery. On Tuesday, George went into surgery. The doctor said it would take 90 minutes, but it took 3 hours because of the damage to the ankle.

After the surgery, George finally told what had happened to him at Walmart. A man hit my mom's car with his truck door. George got out to go find my mother and tell her and got into an altercation with the man, and the man ran him over with his truck.

George was in the hospital until Saturday with my parents by his side 24 hours a day.

Over a 5-week period, my parents lost a lot of hours at work. George needed special medical equipment to be able to go home safely. George's insurance would not cover most of it and my parents had to pay out of pocket.

George will need to be out of school for 6-8 weeks with my mom staying home with him. He is not able to put any weight on his leg at all.

My parents could really use some help to get them through this and for the lost work and medical equipment.
