Hello, our Grandfather Geoff, or more commonly referred to as "Papa", lost his home to the Fawn Fire in Northern California this week. The home was completely leveled along with multiple sheds full of tools and priceless memorabilia that will not be covered by insurance.
While we are all so thankful that he is safe and healthy, and we understand that there can be no monetary value placed on the loss he is feeling, this property and his possessions he shared with his late wife Mary who passed in 2016 was everything to him.
At 97 years old he stayed in shape by taking care of the 10 acre property and gardening. Every Sunday he was host in this home for weekly Sunday night dinners for his children, grandchildren and four great-grandchildren for 30+ years. These dinners were great opportunities for him to share laughs with his family, stories from his childhood growing up in Australia, sharing about his time serving in the Royal Australian Air Force during WWII and his journey immigrating to America in 1952.
We've started this campaign to help relieve some of the stress and financial burden he is now facing to rebuild. He is going to need funds for clean-up of the property and to establish a new place to live. He did not have more than 10 minutes to evacuate and was only able to save a handful of photos and enough clothes to last just a couple days.
Every penny that we are able to raise for him will be a huge blessing and will all go directly to him.
