Hi everyone,
I never imagined I’d be writing something like this. What was meant to be one of the happiest days of my life turned into something I’m still trying to process.
On my wedding day, just moments before I was due to walk up the aisle, someone I trusted threw black paint over me. In an instant, everything changed. The dress, the moment, the memories we had dreamed about for so long — all taken away.
It’s hard to put into words how that felt. Shock, heartbreak, embarrassment… but also a deep sadness that something so special was turned into something so painful.
Despite everything, one thing that day reminded me of what truly matters — the love and support from my partner, my family, and the people who have reached out since. That love is what’s given me the strength to think about trying again.
We’ve made the decision to redo our wedding day. Not to erase what happened, but to reclaim the moment and create the memories we were meant to have — walking down the aisle with joy, surrounded by love, and starting our marriage the way we had always hoped.
Setting this up wasn’t easy, and asking for help doesn’t come naturally to me. But so many people have reached out asking how they can support, and this felt like a way to turn something negative into something hopeful.
Any contribution, no matter how small, will go towards helping us recreate our wedding day — from a new dress to a simple celebration where we can finally have that moment.
If you’re not in a position to donate, sharing this would mean just as much.
Thank you for reading, for your kindness, and for helping us turn a painful experience into something positive.
With love,
Gemma
