Help Gary get a Second Chance at Life
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Gary Powell, and I am reaching out with a hopeful heart and a simple wish - a chance to live.
I am currently battling end-stage kidney disease and rely on dialysis 3 times a week just to survive. My ultimate hope is to receive a lifesaving kidney transplant, but I've hit a heartbreaking roadblock. Despite my medical need, I was recently denied placement on the transplant list in Spokane, Washington, not because of my health, but because I couldn't secure stable housing in Spokane which is understandably required by the hospital for all transplant patients. Like many others in my position, I'm unable to work due to my kidney disease, and that has left me without the financial means to meet the basic requirements like housing, or the simple ability to easily move somewhere else.
There is a brighter path ahead: I have the opportunity to be placed on a transplant list in Arizona, but to do that I must relocate and secure a safe and stable place to live there. This move is more than a change of scenery - it's the bridge between my current fight and a future filled with hope. In Arizona there are more veteran resources available to help me secure housing than in Idaho and Washington, so Arizona is now my last hope.
I am humbly asking for your support in helping me raise $10000 to move from Idaho to Arizona and secure short-term housing so I can be considered for a kidney transplant and hopefully, a new life.
Your donations will go directly toward:
- Relocation & Moving expenses from Idaho to Arizona (moving van, storage, hotel, gas, food)
- Short Term Housing (monthly AirBnB or short term rentals)
- Basic living costs during the transitions (until assistance programs can begin)
Time is critical. The sooner I am able to move and secure housing, the sooner I can begin the transplant process - and hopefully save my life. The VA is handling the medical part of my journey, so gratefully that is not an obstacle.
Any contribution, no matter how small, helps bring me one step closer to a future. Even just sharing my story could be the key to reaching someone who can help. Every donation, every share, every kind word brings me closer to the second chance I so desperately need.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for caring - and for helping me fight for this second chance at life.
With deep gratitude,
Gary Powell
