Help Gary & Beth Be There for Kalie

Our dear friends, Gary & Beth Ebner need our help more than ever. Here is their story:

Some of you may already know that our family is going through a very challenging season. While we want to protect our daughter Kalie’s privacy, we also want to share enough for those who care about us to understand why we’re asking for help.
About two weeks ago, Kalie reached a point where she urgently needed support. In the midst of a very personal situation, we made one of the hardest—but most loving—decisions we’ve ever had to make: ensuring she receives the specialized care she needs. After many discussions and professional guidance, we enrolled her in a residential mental-health treatment facility in California that is equipped to help her heal and thrive.
We are incredibly grateful that Beth’s insurance covers the cost of her treatment. However, insurance does not cover travel expenses, including flights, lodging, and time away from work. Kalie is expected to remain in treatment for 30–60 days, and the program strongly encourages family involvement. They believe—and we agree—that family participation in therapy and visitation is an essential part of her healing.
We hope to make short weekend visits during the program’s Sunday visitation times and, most importantly, to be with her around Christmas. Unfortunately, traveling out of state multiple times, combined with missed work and unpaid FMLA days, places a financial strain on our family that we cannot manage alone.
If you feel called to support us—whether through donating, sharing, or sending love and prayers—we are deeply grateful. Your kindness will help us be there for Kalie during a critical moment in her journey.
Thank you for standing with us.
❤️ Gary & Beth Ebner

According to recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), mental-health struggles among U.S. teens remain shockingly common. In 2023, nearly 40 % of high school students reported “persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness.” CDC+1 (https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/73/su/su7304a9.htm?utm_source=chatgpt.com) Around 20 % seriously considered attempting suicide within the past year, and approximately 9-10 % actually attempted suicide. CDC+2CDC+2 (https://www.cdc.gov/healthy-youth/mental-health/index.html?utm_source=chatgpt.com) Studies also show that millions of teenagers aged 12–17 have experienced suicidal thoughts or behaviors in a given year. Indiana Public Media+1 (https://www.ipm.org/2025-08-04/teen-suicide-is-on-the-decline-new-federal-data-shows?utm_source=chatgpt.com) These numbers underscore how widespread and real this struggle is — too often hidden behind silence. That’s why it is so important to listen, believe, and act when a young person shows signs of pain or reaches out for help, even if they don’t have the words to say it.
