My name is Jennifer Lambert and I would like to help a man who has spent his life helping others. Garry is unaware of this as he doesn’t ask help of others, this is a collaboration between myself and his daughter. The funds will go directly to the person doing the roof.
Garry Bolding has spent his entire life serving others and later in life he began strengthening the community of Blythe. Today, he needs the community’s help.
As a young man, Garry joined the United States Coast Guard. His service was cut short when he returned home to help his mother care for his father, who had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Family always came first for Garry.
After returning home, he worked alongside his mother at an assisted living home in California, caring for adults with disabilities. He later worked for the City of Blythe for nearly a decade until his life changed dramatically when he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. After months of treatments and surgeries, Garry fought hard and beat cancer, but the toll forced him to retire earlier than expected.
Even after retirement, Garry never stopped giving back. He volunteered at Harmony Kitchen in Blythe, eventually becoming its manager and helping secure grants and donations that helped transform the organization into what it is today. For decades, he also volunteered with the Blythe Elks Lodge, dedicating countless hours to ensure local kids had the same opportunities as children in larger communities.
Garry even created his own nonprofit to purchase footballs, soccer balls, volleyballs, and flag football flags for the local recreation center so kids in Blythe could stay active and play sports.
He also started Blythe’s Dollywood Library, enrolling local children in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. For nearly seven years, Garry has continued making the monthly payments himself to ensure the children in the program receive a new book every month.
Now, after a lifetime of service, Garry is facing a serious challenge at home. The roof on his house is in critical need of repair and must be replaced before summer. If the repairs are not completed soon, he is at risk of losing his homeowner’s insurance due to the deteriorating condition of the roof and home.
We are asking for the community’s help to make these repairs possible and ensure Garry has a safe and secure home. Any donation, big or small, will make a meaningful difference for someone who has spent his entire life helping others.
If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing his story.
Thank you for supporting Garry and everything he has done for the Blythe community. ❤️
