SHORT SUMMARY
Gifted Child Foundation Primary School is a community-run primary school serving orphaned and vulnerable children—including Batwa families—near Bwindi, southwestern Uganda. With your help, we’ll finish the class rooms, dormitory, keep children in class with meals & materials, and expand women’s vocational training so families can thrive.

OUR STORY:
A Center of Hope in Kabale & Rushaga
Welcome to Gifted Child Foundation Primary School, a community school started by Gifted Child Foundation (GCF) to provide quality education, —and the care that makes learning possible—accessible to orphaned and vulnerable children in Kabale and Rushaga.

Many families here live on the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to Uganda’s famous mountain gorillas. Some of the children we serve are from Batwa communities who were displaced from their forest homelands In the 1990s and continue to face extreme poverty and exclusion. Education, delivered with dignity and cultural respect, is a powerful path to stability and choice.

Our school opened on 3rd February 2025, and we’ve been growing every term. We also transitioned our name from Galileo Primary School to Gifted Child Foundation Primary School to reflect our founding organization and values.

WHAT WE DO:
For our students, school is more than a classroom. It’s safety, nutrition, health, and belonging.

Education & Mentorship – Engaging classes, reading circles, and after-school clubs.

Daily Meals – A reliable meal so children can learn and grow.

Basic Healthcare Support – First-aid and referrals when children are unwell.

Safe Shelter – A dormitory (under construction) for children who live far or lack safe housing.

Clothing & School Uniforms – So every child can attend with dignity.

Women’s Empowerment Program – Vocational training (hairdressing, tailoring & fashion design, baking, cooking, small-animal rearing) plus business starters for mothers and caregivers—because when women earn, children stay in school.

WHAT’S NEW (OCT 2025)

75+ children are now enrolled, with 10+ new learners this term—families keep choosing our school.

Two children received sponsors for the very first time—an exciting step toward long-term stability.

MOST URGENT RIGHT NOW:
Keep the basics funded—daily meals, safe water (including rainwater tank), electricity/solar for lighting, and teacher support—so children can learn well every day. Besides, we still have a challenge with school uniforms, which are crucial for our children to be smart and clearly identified; many currently attend in different colours from former schools or in old clothes, and our wish is to provide each child with our own school uniform and sweater that identifies us.

WHY NOW :
We’ve proven the model—classes are full and families keep coming. But we need to finish critical infrastructure and cover core running costs so children learn well, stay safe, and succeed.

TOP PRIORITIES YOUR GIFT WILL FUND:

Finish the dormitory/hostel (doors, windows, bunks, sanitation).

Water security – a large rainwater harvesting tank and gutters.

Basic solar power – lighting for evening study and safety.

Books & learning materials – readers, textbooks, paper, and art supplies.
Uniforms – a full set and sweater for each child.

Feeding program & teacher support – keep meals reliable and classrooms strong.

THE IMPACT OF YOUR GIFT:

€105 pays one child’s tuition for a term (3 months).
Prefer monthly ? €35/month for 3 months covers one term.
€315 once covers one full school year (3 terms)

You’ll also help with school supplies (books, pencils, pens) so children can study well.

WANT BROADER IMPACT?

Give to the General Fund—your flexible gift helps us cover the basics (food, water, electricity/solar, teacher support, construction) and urgent needs across the school, plus core learning materials for our wider group of 135+ vulnerable children in the project.

Interested in deeper partnership ? You can sponsor a child or discuss larger gifts toward critical infrastructure (rainwater tank, solar setup, dormitory finishing, books & readers). To explore sponsorship, please message us on Instagram at Uganda Gifted Child Foundation or email us [email redacted].

Every donation—large or small—keeps a child learning and nourished today while we build long-term stability through education and family livelihoods.

WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT:
We’re expanding from basket-making to market-ready vocational skills: hairdressing,
tailoring & fashion design, baking, cooking, and small-animal rearing—plus start-up capital
and coaching to empower the women of the community.

TRANSPARENCY & STEWARDSHIP:
We post regular updates with photos and short videos from the school.

We’ll share milestones (dormitory completion, water tank installed, first 100 uniforms distributed, etc.).

Where possible, we buy local to support the community and reduce costs.

Donor names can be recognized on campus as a thank-you (optional).

MEET THE FOUNDER:
Macklean Amanya, founder of GCF, once struggled to pay her own school fees financing her studies by selling crafts. She started by helping 7 children in 2020, grew to support over 100 by 2023, and with community and donor support purchased land and began building the school you’re helping to finish today.

HOW YOU CAN HELP TODAY:
Donate to the General Fund to keep the essentials (meals, water, electricity/solar, teachers) running—this is our most urgent need.

Back a priority item — rainwater tank, basic solar, classroom books, teachers support, or dormitory finishing.

Share this page with a personal note—your voice brings new supporters.

Volunteer your skills (teaching, grant writing, construction, media) or introduce us to partners and employer matching.

Together, we’re building a center of hope where children learn, dream, and lead.
