My name is Gail Hubbeling, I am an elder Dakota woman, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. I am an advocate for renewable energy and sustainable living. I had recently acquired funding for my tribe through the EPA Solar for All grant. I was employed as the Solar Program Manager and was creating a renewable energy center for our tribe.

Due to the Trump Administrations decision to pull funding for this grant I have been left unemployed and with no employment options.

My monthly bills are due, my vehicle payment is due, and bare necessities for my home are needed.

My/our utility bills have doubled in the past year and now I'm struggling to make these simple payments. With the recent cold snap, I need to purchase propane to heat my home which is $170 for a hundred gallons (minimum purchase), the electric bill is currently over $400, internet and house phone is $125 monthly, AND my pickup truck payment is past due and is $5000. As stated, I have grocery and household supply needs which runs approximately $300 a month minimum. There are no employment opportunities on our reservation, and we are within poverty income guidelines.
