Help Gabriel's Family Adapt to Post-Transplant Care in LA

Hello, I’m writing this to ask for help in taking care of my father right now that he is fighting in his recovery from his second liver transplant and adapts to the radical life changes that come with this blessing. My father Gabriel spent his whole life providing for my siblings and I as well as so many other people he comes across and decides to spread his kindness to. My dad struggled a lot as an individual when it came to alcoholism, he has since decided to live a sober life so that he can continue to be there for my family after being told that without these changes his time with us was limited.

In 2023, my dad’s health took a turn when he was told he needed a liver transplant. His liver values were abnormal and without proper medication regimens he would struggle with crippling ammonia values that deluded his thoughts and ultimately kept him from being able to work the long hard hours he was used to.

With time and dedication my father is now leaving the hospital after going through not one, but 2 liver transplants. I went from battling the idea of losing my father to having to find ways to take care of the man who made it look so easy for so long.

I’m grateful to the team of surgeons and medical staff at the hospital that all took a role in my fathers recovery. We are working hard to keep him on the right track but are facing many challenges when it comes down to financially staying afloat. Both my siblings and mother have now become primary caretakers for my father. Living in Los Angeles, driving him to weekly appointments, managing medications and dietary restrictions that all require adequate time and care to ensure no deadly mistakes are made.

I come from a proud family where asking for help does not come easily, right now in this great time of need my family and I are asking for help while we grasp onto this new opportunity we have been given and are so grateful for. Thank you for keeping my family in mind.
