A long road ahead of us…
Hey y’all so as many of you know, we had our baby 2 months early landing us in the NICU. Gabriella was born at 34 weeks, which means she has to eat and breathe on her own before we can even think about leaving. On top of just the “basic” needs of being born early, there are many other needs our little family will have. Travis and I have been staying at the hospital since I got admitted. We understand everyone has their own stuff going on. We wouldn’t be even asking if we weren’t struggling. Anything helps our little family during this tough time.

Born: July, 2025
I had gestational diabetes and preeclampsia (which almost took me out). I brought my swelling and high blood pressure to many doctor’s attention. They all claimed I was ok. It was until Friday July 18th, late evening something was just not right. I went to the baby doctor and then was basically told I wouldn’t be leaving the hospital without a baby. I was terrified. It was too early! I then was put on magnesium sulfate (Mag) which messed with my body. I was on it for over a week! This would later lead to it affecting our baby. On top of all that, I tried giving birth naturally. I tried EVERYTHING. When the last option came to an end, I was told I need to have a c-section. Life came at us real fast! It was one of the most stressful and scariest moments of our lives. Before we knew it, we were heading to the OR. Travis was by my side the whole time leading up to surgery, then he had to wait until the surgery began, to enter. He sat at the top of my head, holding my hand. It was then when they called out time of birth and we heard our little girl cry for the first time. She was then rushed to get analyzed. At this time Travis was by her side, making sure our daughter was taken care of. Once all the basic information was taken care of for new borns, she was brought over to me to see her before being rushed upstairs to the NICU. My health itself was declining due to the Mag in my system and adrenaline kicking in. Recovery has been rough. I then ended up on my day of discharge, having to go to the ER due to my arm swelling from the other IV that was placed for my iron transfusion. I had multiple of these during our stay. The swelling also came with redness and tenderness. I was told I had 3 blood clots! So on top of literally everything else this happened. Although it could have been WAY worse. It’s still super unsettling that it even happened. Now while I’m still recovering, Travis and I have chosen to stay at the hospital with our baby girl. Making sure we are there with her everyday. Helping her learn her way so we can take her home. It’s truly a rough road, but it’s nothing we can’t get through. We are such a blessed family and have a strong village behind us. This story isn’t over yet, but with little steps we will get there! Hopefully not too much longer!
