Hello everyone, my name is Gabriella Guilfu — I’m an Afro-Latin/queer non-binary spiritual practitioner, healer, multi-dimensional artist, and business manager.

Earlier this year, I experienced homelessness and housing insecurity for about five months. Three months ago, I made the hardest yet most faith-filled decision of my life: I sold my car, packed three bags, and bought a one-way ticket to Los Angeles. I came here with nothing but my faith and the deep knowing that God was calling me to fulfill a divine assignment — one I had been putting off for too long.

When I arrived, I had no plan and nowhere stable to stay. I slept in unsafe and unclean places, often only for a night or two before needing to move again, traveling by bus and train with all my belongings. After three weeks, I ran out of money for more hotel/hostel nights and was about to sleep on the streets of Skid Row when, by divine intervention, someone led me to a shelter in South Central LA. I was terrified but grateful — and I’ve been staying there ever since.

Even through these challenges, I’ve continued to show up for my calling — networking, creating, and helping others heal wherever I can in the Black artist/philanthropic community. But the environment I’m currently in has made it increasingly difficult to grow. The shelter conditions are poor — there’s dust, hidden mold, and food I can’t eat due to dietary needs. I’ve experienced disrespect, unsafe situations, and even violence from other residents, with little support from staff. I’ve also been denied medical accommodations despite allergies and past mental health struggles.

I’m at a turning point. I’m ready to step into stability and rebuild my life from the ground up. I know it’s my responsibility to take action, but I also know I can’t do it alone. That’s why I’m humbly asking for your help.
