Baskerville Archive Server - MDFW, Two Worlds, OBRS, VHLS
Donation protected
We're looking to raise funds to purchase a relatively low-budget PC as a "starter server", to run the MDFW, and other Baskerville Archive Wikis from the home of Admin Jubilee. Our goal is 1,000$ USD, 400 - 450$ USD would cover the PC, and the rest would cover the FedEx or UPS to mail it from New Jersey to Colorado.
Planned PC parts list.
Cloudways over-charges and under-delivers, leading to frequent downtime on all projects hosted on the server due to their abysmal hardware stats. On top of it all, they continue to charge more, while not providing anything more for the price.
The projects on the Baskerville Archive are hosted ad-free. My fellow editors and I have sunk countless thousands of hours into these projects simply out of passion, and have helped 10s of thousands of people.

The munny you spend on a coffee could help fund the future of these projects. It adds up over time, and few people know that better than I do. This has always been, and will always be, a passion project. If you've ever wanted to help pay it back to the community, but aren't quite up to being an editor, this is one way to do so.

If you've been met with a "This site is unavailable" message, slow loading times, and other annoying issues, you can thank Cloudways for that.

We left Wikifoundry, Gamepedia, and Filthdom to rid ourselves of dealing with these corporate overlord scumbags. Cloudways is simply another hurdle to clear in an effort to bring the MDFW under the full control of the community.
A friend of Admin Jubilee will be building the server and setting up the server software, where Admin Adkuate will then be able to remotely access the server to set up a proper wiki farm.
Cloudways is 65$ a month for our current under-performing specs. Increasing our server capacity would cost even more. I'd rather take that 65$ + and increase my internet connection package and host my projects myself.
All of the other stuff it would allow us to do is simply a boon on top of it all. Cloudways doesn't allow multiple applications to share a database, meaning we can't run a proper wiki farm. Each wiki is its own installation, with its own extensions, and that means every time we add a new extension, or update MediaWiki, we have to update it 5~ times.
It'll allow us to set up a sandbox wiki, host the wikis we've shut down/absorbed over the years (that we have downloads of) as they were. Admin Adkuate has wanted to create a "Spike Chunsoft Wiki Alliance", even though I'm pretty sure we're the only one that's indie.
Our most trusted editors will also be able to remotely access the server and download or upload files, essentially using it as a file-sharing service for wiki-related media, such as official guidebook scans, official artwork crops, and sharing sprites, models, and other assets we often use while editing the wiki.
Additional side goals include setting up the program "Audiobookshelf" for its eBook reading capabilities, or a program dedicated to eBook viewing, to be able to read Mystery Dungeon manga's from the server, and emby, to host the Mystery Dungeon commercials, promotional videos, Tw*tter videos, and other meida prone to vanishing without a trace from sites such as NicoNico and YouTube.
Our goal is to create a comprehensive archive for Mystery Dungeon, and to a lesser extent, the other wikis hosted by the Baskerville Archive. Not that the other wikis aren't important, I'm simply the sole editor of everything but the MDFW.
The websites and communities you will be helping to support include:
* Baskerville Archive
** Aurora Wasteland Literary Universe Wiki (AWLU Wiki)
** Baskerville Book Reviews
** Mystery Dungeon Franchise Wiki (MDFW)
** Official Bloodlines Reforged Saga Wiki (OBRS Wiki)
** Two Worlds Wiki
** Vampire Huntress Legend Series Wiki (VHLS Wiki)
An anonymous friend has been funding the server costs since November 2020, totalling more than 2,500$ U.S.D. At the absurd rate Cloudways is going, a new server could fund itself in a matter of months.
Any leftover funds will be used in one of three ways, depending on the amount, in descending order of priority.
==Top Priority==
* Repaying for past server hosting expenses.
* Upgrading the server hardware.
==Lesser Priority==
* Purchasing goods and merchandise for documentation.
Thank you for your consideration.
