My name is Hayley Crawford, and I created Ask for Angela 10 years ago based on real frontline experiences including my own experience of sexual violence in public spaces. The initiative has grown over the last ten years into a widely recognised safeguarding tool, helping people discreetly seek help in licensed venues when they feel unsafe.

I want to clarify that this fundraiser is for Ask for Angela’s charitable organisation. It is not connected in any way to a Community Interest Company that has set itself up with a similar name. This fundraiser does not support them, their training company, or any activities unrelated to the Ask for Angela charity initiative. All funds raised here will go through me, solely for the purpose of establishing the charity and advancing its safeguarding aims. The charity’s board or trustees will oversee all spending, and we will publicly share financial details to ensure full transparency.

Why we are fundraising

Ask for Angela is a nationally recognised safeguarding initiative that helps people discreetly seek help in licensed venues when they feel unsafe or vulnerable.

We are now in the process of formally registering Ask for Angela as a charity. While this registration is underway, we are fundraising to support essential setup, awareness, and implementation costs so the work can continue and grow without delay.

Where the money will go

Funds raised through this GoFundMe will be paid to the creator of Ask for Angela, Hayley Crawford, to be used solely for:

Charity setup and governance costs

Awareness and safeguarding campaigns

Implementation support for venues

Resources, materials, and operational expenses directly linked to the aims of Ask for Angela

All spending will be strictly limited to advancing the charitable objectives of Ask for Angela.

Oversight, accountability, and transparency

Although the charity is awaiting formal registration, all expenditure will be overseen by the charity’s board/trustees to ensure proper governance, accountability, and responsible use of funds.

To maintain transparency and public trust:

Spending records will be kept in full

Financial oversight will be provided by the board/trustees

A summary of income and expenditure will be made publicly available

Once charity registration is complete, future fundraising and finances will transition fully into the registered charity structure.
