Help Open the New Abolitionist Park in Fitchburg
PHASE 2 DEADLINE: $17,000 by June 1st, 2021
Phase 1 Goal Met - THANK YOU!: $7,500 by May 1, 2021.
Act now to support the Park.
This effort will allow Fitchburg-area residents and supporters to have a direct impact by funding a historically and culturally significant new green space on Snow Street near downtown Fitchburg and Fitchburg State University.
We know that many people care about honoring Fitchburg's diversity and the city's ties to the Abolitionist Movement and the Underground Railroad.
That's why a group of community members, students, and leaders started the Friends of Fitchburg Abolitionist Park in 2019 to create a green, community-oriented, and profound space to commemorate that history while serving the needs of a vibrant, dynamic city.
The Park will commemorate abolitionists who lived in or had close ties to Fitchburg, educate visitors about the anti-slavery Abolitionist Movement and honor equality, diversity, and the fundamental human right: freedom.
Donate today, and you can proudly say that you helped to open the new Abolitionist Park along with your community. Upon successful completion of this fundraising campaign, we plan to open the park on Juneteenth (June 19) 2021.
Suggested donations for those with limited means but who still want to make a difference include $19 (in honor of Juneteenth), $5, $15, or $30.
For those who can give more, consider an impactful donation of $50, $100, $250, or $500.
When you donate, please share in your comments what this Park will mean to you.
