Production Productions is a Chicago-based theatre company dedicated to presenting new works to the theatre community!
This fall, we are producing the world premiere production of LOVE, THE SINNERS, a new queer play written by Maggie Smith and directed by Eliza Tryon. As an independent theatre company, we are responsible for acquiring our own funding for our projects, which is why we’re coming to you for help. While we’ve been applying for grants and coming up with alternate ways to make money, we are reaching out to our community to help us fund this show. All proceeds will be going to paying our cast, designers, and crew, paying for our space rentals, props, costume materials, and set pieces.
We’re passionate about this project and the impact that we know it will have on audiences. We are ecstatic to be creating a production for a play that is written to give queer youth not only the representation they need in theatre, but help solidify the message that they can inspire and create change in their communities. If you have the means to donate anything, no matter how small, it would be so greatly appreciated. Let’s work together to strengthen the queer community and make empowering theatre!
SHOW DESCRIPTION: “While preparing for a normal year at their Catholic high school, a group of queer teenagers are suddenly faced with a new series of anti-LGBTQ+ rules created by their city's archdiocese, threatening to expel each one of them. Tired of their school's 'hate the sin, love the sinner' mentality, the teenagers turn to malicious compliance as a means of protest, boycotting every academic material and lesson plan that they argue goes against Church teachings.”
