Help Fund Leilani's Brain Surgery

Donation protected

Hi, My name is Chelsey and I have started this fundraising page to raise money for Leilani's brain surgery. Leilani is only one year old and has a twin sister named London. A few months ago Leilani's parents Ty and Jackie rushed her to the hospital back in June due to excess vomiting and unable to keep any food down. While at the hospital they attempted to hook Leilani to IV and had to place the IV several times into her due to the IV not holding properly. The hospital was struggling to get food into her system and vomiting continued. Finally the doctors were able to stabilize Leilani and believed all of this was caused because of gastro issues. Leilani finally was sent back home after being able to keep food down and stop vomiting. Jackie and Ty thought they were in the clear and that Leilani was healthy again.

Little did they know, they found themselves rushing Leilani back to Savannah Memorial ER on Wednesday, August 4th after a 5 day vomiting streak and struggling to walk properly. Later that night Jackie, Ty and Leilani were sent back home and we're scheduled to meet with the pediatric gastro specialist the next day. The gastro specialist believed this was not a gastro issue which they originally diagnosed her with, but soon realized this was a neurological issue. Later on Thursday, August 5th Jackie and Ty received the news that Leilani had a mass on her Cerebellum (the lower part of her brain) and that it would need to be removed immediately. The doctors scheduled Leilani for an MRI, which revealed two masses on Leilani's brain along with two infectious abscesses. Leilani had fluid in her brain which was the ultimate cause of her not being able to walk properly. Unfortunately, the surgeons and doctors won't know for sure what they're dealing with until they're able to do a biopsy. Jackie and Ty were overwhelmed and scared to receive this news, a parents worst nightmare. Leilani was scheduled for brain surgery on Tuesday, August 10th. Prior to the surgery on Tuesday, Leilani was scheduled to have a central line placed in order to give doctors better access for antibiotics. Ty and Jackie continue to pray every day hoping the brain surgery would be a success and to stay in high spirits during this difficult time. Finally Leilani was undergoing surgery, which took 8.5 hours, the surgery was successful but needed close monitoring due to her cerebral spinal fluid being infected. The doctors are currently treating Leilani for meningitis as well. Jackie and Ty were informed by the doctors that Leilani would have to stay in the ICU for 4-6 weeks from the date of surgery to ensure no complications arise. As of yesterday, Wednesday August 11th the doctors have attempted to clamp Leilani's drain but have been unsuccessful with fluid building up in her brain and continuing to vomit and unable to keep food down. We can only pray that the doctors are able to successfully clamp her drain. Please continue to pray everyday for Leilani to stay strong and healthy again. We appreciate you taking the time to listen to Leilani's story. She is such a brave little girl and we hope to see her get better soon. With only one income and four children to support, the family finds themselves struggling to pay for the multiple medical bills to support Leilani's brain surgery. We appreciate all your support and any donations during this time. Please continue to pray for Leilani's health and hope to bring her back home safely soon.
