Help fund home and garden adaptations for Jake.

On the 11th November 2021, our lives were devastated. At the age of 8 years old, my nephew Jake was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Since then he has endured numerous blood transfusions, lumber punctures, bone marrow extractions and ongoing aggressive chemotherapy treatment. Heartbreakingly, this nightmare will be his reality for the next few years. He continues to make us all amazingly proud with his bravery and resilience on what is a long road to recovery.

Adam and Megan have remained positive throughout and have met with exceptional courage, the most challenging of challenges that can be faced by any parent. Jake has three siblings, Lily-Mae (9), Alfie (7) and Annie (2) who are all adapting to the overwhelming changes to everyday life exceptionally well.

In addition to coping with all the emotional upheaval and anxiety associated with having a poorly child, they are facing significant additional expenses. Fuel costs as a result of regular and frequent visits to Sheffield Children's Hospital and the requirement to adapt the family home/garden to accommodate Jakes wheelchair access and decreased mobility to name only a few. These are burdens I hope you can help me extinguish.

During his treatment he is unable to go anywhere crowded due to his weakened immune system. This is especially crucial during the ongoing pandemic.

I am going to complete a Conqueror Virtual Challenge to raise money towards any required adaptations to the home/garden to give Jake and his siblings a safe, fun and accessible space.

The challenge I will be doing is the Lands End to John o'Groats challenge, which clocks in at just over 1,083 miles (scenic route). I aim to do at least 20 miles on an excercise bike, every day for 8 weeks.

This will be no easy feat for a 20+ stone, out of shape man like myself, but if Jake can valiantly battle Leukemia as he is, aching legs and a sore bottom are inconsequential.

Thank you for taking the time to read Jakes story.
