Put fresh produce on your neighbor’s table!
Can you support a Watauga County family by giving them locally grown, healthy produce for the next five months?

Watauga County is 98th among 100 NC counties for residents who live below the poverty line, with more than 1 out of 4 residents struggling to meet high rents, fuel costs, and basic needs. Poverty and food scarcity hits growing children especially hard. In Watauga County, 78% of students are eligible for free & reduced school lunch, meaning many children may only have one full meal a day, and less in the summer.
Can you contribute to the cost-share program at Against the Grain Farm to offer healthy, organic produce to High Country families in 2021? With a donation of $30, $60, or $100, Against The Grain can bring fresh and healthy food to the High Country.
Against the Grain https://www.atgfarm.com/ is a small family farm located in Zionville, NC, in western Watauga County. They grow a spectrum of certified organic and biodynamic vegetables and pasture-raised meats, with a mission to nourish both body and spirit. In addition to selling at the Watauga County Farmer’s Market and the High Country Food Hub, their Community Supported Agriculture program (CSA) offers a way to buy a share in the farm’s bounty, receiving weekly baskets of food throughout the five strongest growing months of the year.

Since 2017, Against the Grain has offered cost shares to provide reduced and free CSA shares to food-insecure families. Last year, a surprise gift of $2,000 enabled them to reach more new families. With $5,000, Against the Grain can offer 9 full shares to families in need of healthy food, supporting both the farm and the community.
Giving love to your neighbors in this way works directly to support a small, local farm and give life to a family during this critical time. You are honoring the needs of local families with a gift of produce grown with care, health, and without poisons or artificial fertilizers.

Looking for a way to help - and wear your love for farming with pride?
For the next two weeks, Against the Grain Farm is also offering custom merchandise with the beautiful message to “heal the soil and heal the soul!” All proceeds will go to the CSA cost-share program to help support families in need! Visit https://www.kinddesignsprinting.com/against-the-grain.html to pick out a t-shirt or hat that shows off your love of farming and farmers -- and your connection to local food!
