Help Fund a Building Project in Hunza Valley

Sohail giving a tourism education workshop recently at the building site.

Hi there!
Chris Lininger here, founder of Epic Expeditions - an American adventure tour company running trips in South and Central Asia.
As many of you know, Pakistan has been like a second home to me. Almost 20 trips to the country later, I have been fortunate enough to meet some truly exceptional human beings I now consider among my best friends.
Perhaps at the top of that list is the one - the only - Sohail Sahki.
I first met Sohai back in 2019 out on the K2 Base Camp Trek and since then, he has become one of our most sought-after guides and one of my personal best friends. If you have ever had the pleasure of being on an Epic trip with Sohail, then you probably know that he is one of the sweetest, most genuine, hard-working guides you will ever meet.
Right now, we want to bring our community together for Sohail as he has so often been there for us.
When not climbing and trekking through the highest peaks in the world in his beloved Karakoram mountains, his dream is to build and own a small backpacker hostel/hotel in his hometown in Hunza Valley in Pakistan. So, let's help turn that dream into a reality for Sohail!
In addition to being a hostel, the space will serve as a community center of sorts, where Sohail will be teaching the next generation from Hunza important skills ranging from the future of tourism in the area to technical climbing skills.
We are asking you to contribute to this project - whatever amount you can afford. This is what the Epic community is all about.
I have a feeling that once this project is completed - there will always be a bed in Hunza with your name on it :).
The site for the hostel has already been obtained - but there is still a lot of work left to go!
Donation funds will go towards:
- Doing a full renovation of the hostel building
- Outfitting the hostel with everything needed to run (beds, linens, wifi, furniture, kitchen)
- Improving the land and garden
- Completing the boundary wall
- Purchasing building materials
- Hiring local labor
