Help fund a bright future for a bright teenager

Donation protected
In late 2020 my 15 year old Nephew, just about the embark on his GCSE mock exams lost his mum, my little sister to suicide.

After a long battle with mental illness, the pressure of further lockdowns and the isolation of being a single mother Kate ended her life at Gatley Train station mid November 2020.

Nile, now orphaned has battled with his own needs managing "high functioning" autism his whole life and now dealing with a huge shift in his well ordered and routine life, and losing that single parent family that had fought for and with him his whole life.

Nile, you'll find is one of the bravest, strongest person our family has - his dream to pursue his goal of being a psychologist in America has now been solidified as he's found a cause greater than just a career - to help others with mental illness out of their struggle through therapy and knowledge.

In order to support his dream, get him the right opportunities and keep his focus on continuous learning to make use of the amazing, astute brain he has we are raising money for his college fund and all the funding needed to get him there.

Kate's death will not be in vain if we can give her only son the springboard to a thriving and successful career he deserves so he can go on to help 1000s of others struggling and turn around his own personal tragedy to serve others through Psychology.

What this fund will go towards:

- laptop and learning materials
- tuition fees or associates university fees
- transport and travel
- support with living costs

The average costs of a UK University tuition fees are £10, 230 per annum.

The average costs to attend a US College are $25,500 per annum.

The average cost of accomodation for a University student is £14,724 over a typical 3 year degree.

We are all supporting him as best we can but this fund will be the extra security blanket for him now his main carer has gone.

My sister Maya has taken on the role of main carer for Nile, and has moved into Kate's old house to do this.  It's hard enough being a parent as it is (and expensive) especially during the past year-  but to take on responsibility for the teenage son her older sister left behind, and deal with her own grief in the process is another level - worrying about finances is the last thing this newly form home needs.

We'll be undertaking a series of challenges to raise awareness for mental health to make sure any donations are hard earned. The first will be a 3 Peaks Marathon in the UK, watch this space for details and updates!

First challenge will be The Derbyshire 3 peaks 26 mile trek on 28th May 2021.

10% of all funds raised will go towards a charity of Kate's choice, BiPolar or Mental Health Related.

We've already been bowled over by the support and compassion shown by her last employer, Elemis who were so kind in offering to cover the cost of funeral flowers for us, and running a charity day at their counters in Kate's memory.

It's really simple to donate, simply click the button to make a payment, no matter how big or small, it all helps.
