Help Provide Fresh Local Food to Families in Need!

The Freeport Farmers Market was established 3 years ago to provide the local community easy access to the amazing array of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy products, bread and more that are produced by our local farmers. While It’s been very well received, we saw that much of our community couldn’t afford these wholesome options.

So - this summer the the Market started a program of food vouchers to help those who could use some help. The idea was to give lower income families weekly food vouchers so that they could enjoy fresh locally grown meat and veggies from the farmers market vendors - a win/win for both our neighbors and our farmers.

The good news is that it turned out to be way more successful/necessary than we’d anticipated -with between 35 - 45 residents of our housing projects using it every week. The bad news is that we didn’t anticipate the level of need in our community

We had raised $3000 to cover the cost of this project and now realize we’ll run out of money by early July! We’d like to keep this local project going so that it can continue to benefit neighbors and farmers alike. To do so, we need to raise $6000.
