Guillermo — known lovingly as Memo — has spent decades building a life in the U.S., working hard in construction and raising his two U.S.-born sons. But on his way to work in Gilbert, AZ, everything changed in an instant.

The Gilbert police stopped Memo without cause — a clear case of racial profiling — and handed him directly to ICE. Despite having no criminal record and being a devoted father, he was taken from his family and sent to the Florence Detention Center.

Memo also suffers from a painful medical condition that requires medication. In detention, he’s struggling in constant pain without the treatment he needs, while his boys are left wondering when they’ll see their dad again.
