Instead, he was violently tackled to the ground by ICE agents. At over 60 years old, Fernando ran in fear for his life—but he didn’t get far.

Fernando is a diabetic, suffers from Valley Fever (a serious illness that has left holes in his lungs), and now sits in medical isolation at the Florence Detention Center. He’s alone, terrified, and unable to see or speak with his family.

He has lived in the United States for over 30 years. He has no criminal record. He is a neighbor, a father, a friend—and he’s in detention simply because of his immigration status.
