Support Our Family So They Can Continue Their Asylum Case in Freedom
My name is Paulina Reyes. I am the aunt of Antonella and Andrés, and the sister-in-law of Ramiro. Today, I am reaching out with a heavy heart because our family is going through one of the most painful and unexpected moments of our lives.
On February 12, 2026, Ramiro and my nephews attended their scheduled immigration court hearing in Texas. They did everything right: they showed up, followed the rules, and respected the legal process. Their asylum case is still active, there is no deportation order, they have no criminal record, and they entered the United States legally with a visa before applying for asylum through proper legal channels.
However, after leaving the courtroom, they were detained by ICE.
From that moment, they were held at the Karnes County Immigration Processing Center in Texas. They were handcuffed and treated like criminals, losing their freedom and access to their belongings within minutes. Despite fully complying with the law, the experience felt like being in jail.
The emotional toll has been devastating. For them, each day has been a heavy psychological burden. For us as a family, it has meant constant anxiety, helplessness, and heartbreak.
Today, thanks to a tremendous effort, they have been released from detention. However, this came with a significant financial burden that we cannot manage on our own.
To secure their release, we had to cover:
Approximately $10,000 in legal fees
Bond payments of $7,500 per person
These payments were necessary so they could return home to Austin, where they have a stable place to live and the support of a sponsor with legal status.
They did not miss court.
They did not break the law.
They are not a danger to anyone.
They are a family seeking protection while following the legal process.
We are humbly asking for your support to help us cover these expenses so they can continue their case with dignity and remain together as a family.
Any contribution, no matter how small, makes a meaningful difference.
And if you are unable to donate, we would be deeply grateful if you could share this campaign.
Thank you for your support, your compassion, and for helping keep our family together.
Disclaimer: Debbie Ruiz is not the beneficiary. She is a friend helping receive and transfer donations because I am not currently in the United States
