Hi everyone I’m making this post mainly for support and awareness. My dad Fredy Hernandez has been detained in ICE custody for over a month now leaving my mom and myself living on our own. My dad has always been our rock having him gone has been very hard on us. We had just moved down here to Cleveland about 3 months ago we were very happy to have our own place we knew that all the hard work was paying off for my parents. On June 28,2025 at 8 AM I received a call from my mom crying…she told me to rush over to my dad they had just pulled him over. My mom was talking to my dad on the phone while this all happened as they normally call in the mornings before work. I rush out the door and head to where my dad was at mind you my dad was heading to work taking his normal route as he had been doing for the 2 months living in the new area. My mom heard the officer say that he would give him a ticket for his headlights(this all happened at 8 AM)the sun was rising meaning there was no need to have his headlights on. The officer then tells my dad he will receive a ticket for no license which is fine because we know my dad has no license and was in the process of fixing his papers. The lawyer had given him a letter that we expected to work for him in case of situations like that. The officer proceeds to say that he will go to his vehicle to process the tickets and as he does that my dad noticed 2 more vehicles pull behind him he knew it was ICE. He tells my mom as they are still on the phone that he knows who it is…they get off of there vehicle and start asking my dad all types of questions, if he is a citizen…etc. my mom yelling at them through the phone letting them know that he’s in the process of fixing his papers. They ignore him, they ignore my mom talking on the phone they force my dad out of his truck and put him inside of there car. The officer grabs my dads phone and tells my mom that he’s is getting detained and hangs up. I get to where they were at but they had already taken my dad. His truck was there on the side of the road just parked. I see the officer as he pulled someone else over on the same highway and I go and tell him where they are taking him he says to the Montgomery processing center. I call my mom and let her know as I wait for her to come from work to figure out how to get the truck back home. We called many lawyers to try and see who was able to help us but our minds were all over the place we didn’t know what was going to happen to him. We didn’t get a call from my dad till the next day since it took a while for them to get processed but when he called we were so glad to hear that he was okay. A couple days pass and my dad tells us they are moving him . We hadn’t heard from him for 2-3 days when he finally called he told us they moved him to the Houston core civic processing center.Me and my mom are balancing working while taking time to go and visit my dad every chance we get and making sure we pay off any bills and the house. My dads bond got denied a couple days ago, he has another hearing on September 2nd and we are hoping they give him a bond we have tried everything in our power to try and prove to them that my dad is a good person. We didn’t expect to move over here and my dad not be here with us. We aren’t asking for much we are just trying to see if we are able to afford a better lawyer to help my dad come home. Thank you
