On August 20th, 2024, Fred Puiello's life was forever changed.

At first, he thought he had a simple back injury that would heal over time. In the months following, his condition worsened and progressed into partial paralysis, making him unable to walk. He was hospitalized and then put in a rehabilitation center for a month.

Fred was discharged from Brookside Rehabilitation Hospital Wednesday, October 16, and has a long recovery ahead of him. He ambulates using a walker up to 45 feet, battling right foot drop and he suffers neuropathic pain of both legs. He will require outpatient physical therapy. There’s contention about the wheelchair and it’s used for safety hoping to eventually progress to using a cane.

His physical therapists and doctors believe that he will be able to walk again in time, but it will take much diligence and patience. We don't know a singular cause, but his bloodwork is good and this doesn't appear to be caused by an underlying disease.

We are setting up this GoFundMe to help him with the financial lifestyle changes he'll need to make in his home.

If you know my dad well, you know he is an extremely active person. He loves to visit with family and friends. He is beyond grateful to God as well as his dear friends and family who have supported him during this time.

All donations will go towards a wheelchair accessible shower, safety rails, walkers, shoes, and many other much-needed supplies that a person with a physical handicap might face.
