Help Fred Brinkley Rebuild His Life After 41 Years of Wrongful Imprisonment

At just nineteen years old, Fred Brinkley’s life was stolen from him. In 1983, Fred was arrested for a series of armed robberies he did not commit. On October 31, 1984, he was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison — a sentence that would consume the next forty-one years of his life.

A Conviction Without Evidence

Fred’s conviction was built on shaky ground from the very beginning.
There was no physical or forensic evidence linking him — or his co-defendant, a woman he had met only minutes before their arrest — to any of the crimes. While Fred was already incarcerated awaiting arraignment on some of these charges, the same robberies continued to occur outside the jail walls. Despite that fact, prosecutors went forward, and Fred was charged even for crimes that happened while he was already behind bars.

At trial, multiple victims took the stand and testified that Fred was not the man who had robbed them. Still, he was convicted and sentenced to life — a lifetime of opportunities, relationships, and milestones taken away by a system that failed him.

41 Years of Innocence and Endurance

Throughout more than four decades in prison, Fred never stopped proclaiming his innocence. He fought tirelessly for his freedom, guided by faith, hope, and the unwavering belief that truth would prevail. Finally, on October 30, 2025, after years of review and advocacy from dedicated attorneys and innocence advocates who examined his case and recognized the injustice, Fred walked out of the prison gates.

After 41 years, Fred walked out of prison a free man — but with nothing more than the clothes on his back.

Freedom After Four Decades — and a New Beginning

Freedom, while deeply precious, also comes with profound challenges.
After spending more than half his life behind bars, Fred faces a world that has changed beyond recognition. He needs long-term housing, medical care, clothing, education, and basic resources to rebuild his life from the ground up. He has no savings, no work history, and no safety net — only the courage and resilience that carried him through four decades of wrongful imprisonment.

This GoFundMe is created to help Fred reclaim the stability and dignity that were unjustly taken from him.

How Your Donations Will Help

Every dollar raised will go directly toward helping Fred rebuild his life:

Every contribution — large or small — is a step toward justice, healing, and hope for a man who lost nearly everything but never gave up.
