Hi, I am Franklyn Saunders from Mile Gully St Mary on the island of Jamaica. I am currently living in Columbia, South Carolina, in the United States of America. I am a passionate Non-Revenue Water Loss professional and advocate for almost 15 years. My career began with the National Water Commission in my island home of Jamaica, and I have since worked with Miya Water Jamaica and I am currently championing water conservation with McKim & Creed here in the USA.

Of no secret to the world, Jamaica is currently reeling from the recent passing of Hurricane Melissa. The little slice of paradise the world has come to know and love for its people and its culture was decimated and is now trying to pick up the pieces on its way to recovery.

My community of Mile Gully, St. Mary, was spared the worst but is without power and telecommunications. Commute is currently limited due to fallen trees and downed power lines. Families are without essential food supplies and other basic day-to-day necessities. After the passage of Hurricane Ivan in September 2004, my community was without power for 2 months, and the projections are significantly worse as aid is rightly going to the hardest-hit areas in the southwestern region of the island.

However, I am making a passionate plea to my colleagues both present and former, as well as the International Water Loss Community, for help in providing food supplies, toiletries, bedding, as well as setting up charging stations where the community can have some means to communicate with their loved ones and the relevant authorities for further aid.

No contribution is too large or too small, so help us to reach and surpass our goal.
