UPDATE 10/16/25:

Hello everyone, updating this GFM as the situation has changed.
Basically, the banks timeline ran out and the house needed to be sold. Miraculously a kind hearted good Samaritan reached out to my family and we worked out an arrangement wherein he buys the house and then allows me to purchase it back from him at a later date after repairing it. This was a situation we never anticipated would happen or was even possible. The good news from this is that the house is safe, for now. The bad news is that due to this new arrangement the house will be more expensive to reclaim. As such, I am going to leave this GFM open, however I will not be altering the original goal number I initially put on it.

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, I will be sure to update with further info as my journey to reclaim my grandparents house continues.

My name is Frankie and I am trying to raise money to save my grandparents' house. Due to my grandmother entering long term care she stands to lose it, and I can't allow that. Not only does the house hold a great deal of sentimentality to me, but it would be a much healthier place to live compared to my current dwelling. Due to factors beyond my control the only way it can work is if I can raise a bit more money myself.

In January of this year, I found my grandmother collapsed on the floor of her home. She had been there for 3 days, she was barely conscious by the time I found her. After being rushed to the emergency room, she was diagnosed with a brain bleed and needed extensive rehab and care. After receiving rehab for several months, it was determined that she can no longer live alone and will need to go into long-term care. If you have ever had a family member go through the same thing, then you understand that all her assets will need to be liquidated. However, there is one major hiccup in all that: she had a reverse mortgage on the house.

A little about myself, I am currently living in a toxic environment. A damaged house in name only, I would more aptly compare it to a storage facility. I've needed to live around other peoples possessions with strict instructions not to disturb anything. The shower stopped working 10 years ago, the washer 6 years ago. There are issues with mold, necessary repairs have gone long ignored. I have not had a single day in my life for the last decade where I have not needed to leave the house in order to maintain proper hygiene. My social life has suffered greatly from this as living, existing, is like a second job to me. In addition to the great personal meaning my grandmothers house holds to me, it would also be a much healthier place to live and allow me to more rapidly build a better future for myself.

I've talked it over with my father, and we both agree the house is too precious to lose. Ideally the house I inhabit will be sold and used to pay for my grandmothers house. Unfortunately, due to the timing and the complexity layered in with the reverse mortgage, we would still come up short. What I am aiming to do with this fundraiser is raise money to get us to the goal required without bankrupting the family in the process.

This house means so much to me. My grandfather built most of it with his own two hands. I was named after him; it is the closest thing I have to any form of family legacy. I even lived with them for a time before changes in their health made it no longer feasible. Saving my grandparents' house is my most desperate and solemn wish not just for my own safety and health but for the sake of my grandparents' legacy and love.

I hope my grandmother has a few more years with us and she'll be able to return to the house she loved so much for holiday occasions. I am begging you to consider a donation, and if that is not possible, then please spread this around as far and wide as you can. Any extra money raised will go to necessary repairs. Thank you so much for your time.
