Help Frankie raise funds to volunteer in Africa

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Frankie and in the summer of 2026 aged 15, I will be heading out to Kenya, with a group of volunteers, to participate in a 4 week expedition of a lifetime. We will be supporting the work of Camps International. This will be a huge personal challenge, having never visited the savannahs of Tsavo in Kenya, on the African continent. We will be living and working alongside local people, learning about the challenges they face daily, such as the heat, mosquito’s and creepy crawlies. We will have access, to limited sanitation facilities (no 15 minute hot showers), cook and eat local food (no pizza and chips), no TV let alone Netflix and no WIFI, most of the time, along with other creature comforts like Bacon butties and a Sunday roast.
The project work we will be doing will include, building elephant fences to protect the locals and their crops. Digging foundations for houses, laying pipes for a water supply and de-worming goats (gross).
Camps International started in Kenya in 2002, there are now 20 permanent camps providing work to the local community, providing access to education and healthcare, to over 120,000 people in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. 38% of the money raised has a direct impact on the local economy, by providing staff, opportunities in rural communities and protecting wildlife habitat etc. Only around 5% is profit. Every child should have access to an education, a chance to be a kid and have fun. As well as the opportunity to fulfil their dreams and to not to live in poverty.
As part of the expedition, we will planning environmental educational workshops, at the local schools and teaching them English (or Yorkshire). We will visit a local Maasai tribe where we will spend time learning about their traditions, (see who can jump the highest) and work on environmental and wildlife-focused projects.
We will learn about the challenges faced by women in rural communities. As well as looking at local projects set up to generate income such as bead crafts to be sold to tourists. We will be working alongside locally employed craftsmen, helping to renovate and build new houses. As well as taking out much needed supplies, such as sweets, footballs and the latest fashions !
In return for all this work, I will have the opportunity to undertake the PADI Open Water Scuba Diving Course and go on a amazing 1 day Safari in Tsavo East, to see Elephants and Lions in the wild, how fantastic !
Having read my story I hope that you can consider making a small donation to help me achieve my goal of £1,300. I will be undertaking lots of activities over the coming 18 months to help raise some of the money. These will include making and selling crafts for Christmas, undertake a hiking and camping trip next summer. As well as selling some of my beloved clothes to raise more funds. In return, I will have the opportunity to experience a unique, life changing challenge, which I am sure will change my outlook on life forever (according to my parents !).
Thank you for your support.
