Help for the Rahman Family
Donation protected
Hi friends,
As you may know, tens of thousands of Afghans were evacuated and sent to US military bases after the Taliban took control of the country in August. Vermont is one of the states chosen for resettlement and over the past month, Afghans have been arriving here. We are lucky enough to be helping one such family resettle in Montpelier - with six boys between the age of 9 months and 12 years old! They arrived in Vermont with nothing - and were amazed at the generous welcome from community members, with donations of clothing, winter gear, and household items. We are now reaching out for financial help on their behalf. We are hoping to help raise enough funds to supplement the support they are receiving from the resettlement agency to help them buy a car and cover other expenses.
As you can imagine, the family is also deeply concerned about the well-being of those family members and friends who did not get out. Any extra funds will be sent back home to help their loved ones get through the coming winter.
In the coming weeks and months, I hope you will have the opportunity to welcome this and other families from Afghanistan. They have gone through so much to get here - I know they will be grateful for your warm welcome and support!
