Matt and Anna Harvey that I am dear friends with from Creston, Wa. are always willing to help me when I need it, and now they are in need. They are just about the nicest people I know and they have 5 kids from the ages of 5-13 and they all live together in a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2007 double wide mobile home. Matt's parents drove out west from Iowa to help Matt and Anna build a basement to add room to their home. Matt took the entire month of May off from work so he and his dad, who has worked in construction for years, could save Matt some money by doing all of the work on their own. The plan was to build the foundation for the basement and then hire a company to come and slide the mobile home onto it and have it all put together and live-able before the cold weather hits this fall. This was the most affordable way Matt could find to make more room for his growing family. Well unfortunately the first part of May and right after they started this house project, they found out that Anna has stage 3 breast cancer. So in the midst of trying to make their house bigger, they now have another hurdle to climb, which is getting Anna healthy!! Their time is being spent trying to hurry up and get the house project done and also running Anna to Spokane Wa. to doctors appointments. It's kind of a stressful time in their life right now and Anna is requiring a lot of rest in her busy household now that her chemo treatments have started. This GoFundMe page was set up to help this wonderful family through a hard time. Matt saved enough money up to start the basement, not realizing that Anna was going to get sick and that building materials were going to skyrocket in price the way that they have! They didn’t save enough money to finish the basement completely and now what money was saved is now going to also help with Anna’s care. The house project has been put on hold for the time being. I reached out to see how much it would cost to hire a company to come and finish laying the block for them and was quoted over $20k, and that was just to finish laying the block and nothing more. This family is in a pinch and could really use some help!! The 3 girls all sleep in one small bedroom on a bunkbed and have another mattress that they pull out from under the bunkbed on the floor for the youngest to sleep on leaving no room to walk in their bedroom. There is clearly not enough room for the growing girls and with one being a teenager now they really need their own space.
