Help for the family of baby Mercy
Donation protected
On 12-31-2021 Mercy Matava (my niece) was born after her mom (my sister) suffered a placenta abruption during the night. After a emergency c-section she was born and thankfully resuscitated after CPR was performed for an extended time. She suffered a brain injury due to lack of oxygen. Her organs had begun to fail and shut down but thankfully they're working well now. She has had many seizures in her first week, required assistance breathing, and hypothermic therapy to help slow the damage to her brain and body. She is making many improvements everyday, but she will still be on a long road to recovery. Her long term delays are still unknown as her brain continues to recover. It will be a long road of specialist trips and possibly needing medical equipment (this part is still unknown). Mercy has been hospitalized since birth, and her Mother for several days before being discharged. The financial burden is going to be alot to handle as both continue to recover. They make a little bit over the cut off to receive Medicaid and there are no programs to financially help families in their situation. They have 3 other children they provide for as well. Dad has had to take time off from work during all this. Mom had to have a blood transfusion and still can't drive yet. The hospital Mercy was transported to is a bit of a drive so gas is a factor too. Doctors have stated that she will require physical therapy and specialist for the next coming years to help her make a recovery. My sister is always one to help others but won't ask for help herself so I'm asking for her. If you can donate, that would be amazing. If you can't, just sharing this would be greatly appreciated.
