Note from Daran:
The beautiful country of Cambodia is my homeland, and my heart is strong for its people, especially the poor. I desire to make known to the world the tragic past of Cambodia at the hand of its enemies and how we can grow strong and overcome the harm and fear it has caused. There has been a long history of violence and inhumane acts which has devastated our beautiful people and land. As survivors, we choose to move forward in love and support with strong determination to unite Khmer people from every corner of the earth. Working together, we can realize our destiny of healing as a people.
Over a million leaders worldwide have joined the movement to restore Cambodia and are working together as a coalition to improve the standard of living and replace fear with hope, while providing resources and information. We will see amazing changes and improved lives Under the caring leadership of Daran Kravanh and the teamwork of all Khmer people. This includes those within Cambodia, in Khmer Krom, Khmer Surin and those spread throughout the world.
Daran’s history includes much personal tragedy growing up in Pursat Province and experiencing the Khmer Rouge, narrowly escaping multiple prison camps with his life. Most of his family did not survive the violence, only him and his older brother. Through many attempts to take his life, he used the gift of music with his accordion to win his escape. His only option to survive was to flee through the jungles and hide near a refugee camp. His incredible story is written in the book “Music Through the Dark”.
Much has happened since that time, but what has not changed is Daran’s strong desire to help his people. Most recently, he was diagnosed with cancer and abruptly rushed to the USA for treatment. Even though his treatment is ongoing, he is working tirelessly for the cause of his people. He will not give up; he will not lose hope. He has a gift of leadership and insight that is truly astonishing.
Your donation to this cause is much needed and appreciated; please give from your heart.
