Help for our beautiful Newton Family

I've started this page to help the Newton family in a really tough season they are currently going through. I'm creating it because, as anyone close to them would know, they won't ask for help themselves.

For those who aren't aware, last week Dan suffered a severe injury at work. A poisonous solution used on the golf clubs got underneath his skin, causing excruciating pain and swelling. An injury that sounds minor, unfortunately became horrific as the solution begun to eat away the soft tissue from the inside out. Since the initial incident, each day seems to bring further news of prolonged injury.

Dan was rushed to the hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. The surgeons made many cuts to open both the top and palm of his hand to try and remove the poison, as there was a risk that he could have lost his hand entirely.

Dan has been transferred to Newcastle hospital and is currently up to surgery number 4 (happening tomorrow) with more likely to happen through the week. All skin has been removed from his thumb and he still has open wounds until they can ensure that it is safe to stich it back up. Dan will eventually need a final skin graft from his leg as most of the flesh on his hand has started to rot away.

The road to recovery will be a long one. The surgeons are still unsure of the mobility he will have in his hand and arm.

Dan has just opened a new business in Forster, which will now have reduced trading and increased running costs as he pays for staff to man the shop. The financial and emotional burden on the family is huge and as a little sister watching on from afar, it is heartbreaking to see.
